  1. The two characters Beatrice and Benedick both share words with each other in act I, but before Benedick comes on stage Beatrice talks bad about him but is sarcastic about it. Beatrice talks about Benedick as if he was a soldier who was to bold or to daring for his own good who eats what he kills and tries to challenge a god(Cupid). Benedick comes on stage and Beatrice shares witty words with him by saying if he ever did love a women they would have to deal with him more than ever. Thus ending the conversation between the two for the rest of the act. NWhite 2C

  2. Beatrice and Benedick do not have the best relationship with each other. They have been bickering with each other very since they have met and she tends to win. She never really has anything nice to say about him and their words about each other are not very nice. They felt that each other are the worst people ever. She says stuff like "Absolutely- he is stuffed, like a dummy. As for what he's stuffed with, nobody's perfect (Shakespeare 47)," "He's incredibility freckle (Shakespeare 60)," and "Benedick will plague him like a disease" (Shakespeare). When having a conversation she like why are you talking nobody is listening and he replies asking why isn't she dead yet and calls her Lady Disdain also while comparing each other to animals( Shakespeare 93-112).

    1. You made a good point in the fact that they do not like each other. It is obvious that they do not get along and they are always coming at each other with well- witted remarks. Me personally I think their relationship will get better throughout the book. A.Davis 1st

    2. Your point is made very clearly about how Beatrice and Benedick do not like each other. You support your answer by giving evidence of things Beatrice has said about Benedick. You also give evidence about what Benedick had said about Beatrice. This shows that they do bicker a lot and also that they could be falling in love because when people fight and argue it can show that they like each other at the same time. B.Massengale 7th

  3. Beatrice & Benedick
The relationship that Beatrice and Benedick share is complicated. They are both witted( act 1, pg. 2, line 23). However to me, Beatrice always treats Benedick like a brother. They act like they hate each other and they are always arguing. They even taunt each other and compare each other to animals(act 1, pg. 4, line 16-19). At this moment I think that later on in the book they are going to end up in a relationship or even get married. ( A.Davis 1st)

    1. I like how you pointed them out as acting like siblings because I never thought of them like that. They are always bickering but you can tell that they still care for each other deep down just like siblings. I also agree that they may get into a relationship later into the book. (G.Cime 2nd)

    2. That's a really interesting point! I've never thought of it that way either, but I see what you mean. The way that they constantly bicker back and forth reminds me of the way my brother and I act around each other. (E Crawford 5)

  4. Beatrice and Benedick have a relationship in act 1 where they are both in denial about falling in love with someone. Beatrice says "... I had rather hear my dog bark at a crow than a man swear he loves me." ( Act 1, Scene 1, Page 6) i took this as she is an independent women and is tired of men trying to be men. Benedick then continues to not revel his identity to her and take hits like a real man. I think that when they both realize that if they continue to act like this they will get married. 1. I agree. When I first read this I thought, "Well opposites do attraction each other", but I honestly don't think they are very different at all. They have a lot more in common than they are willing to accept. (Z. Simmons 1st)

  5. In act 1 Claudio is speaking to Benedick. He admits that he loves Hero and that she is very pretty.
So it is belived that their relationship is very good with each other.
    " Claudio:
If my passion change not shortly, God forbid it should be
    otherwise.
    Don Pedro:
Amen, if you love her, for the lady is very well worthy.
    Claudio:
You speak this to fetch me in, my lord.
    ...
    Claudio:
And, in faith, my lord, I spoke mine" ( Act 1, scene 1 Lines 174-184)
This is clear that he wishes to marry her. But he i scared to be married even if he is very fond of the young Hero.

  6. In act 1, I concluded that Beatrice and Benedick do not like each other. Every time they are together, they always a have a l battle over the littlest things. Beatrice believes that Benedick is like a disease that will infect everyone. Benedick is against love, he never wants to get married because he does not want to be made a fool of being cheated on by a wife. Benedick says, "With anger, with sickness, or with hunger my lord, not with love", meaning that he will be sick with anything but love. In reality, people always say when a guy and a girl fight that means that they actually like each other, and most times they end up together. So, I believe that in the end Beatrice and Benedick will end up together. (C. Le 7)

  7. One of the first annotations I made was a on the interaction between Beatrice and Benedick. I noted there must be history between the two based on how she joked about him as if she knew him well (or used to). Benedick is a difficult character alone, but it seems like both him and Beatrice are people who must have the last word. To me, that makes them both just two difficult peas of the same pot. Beatrice tells Benedick that "Courtesy itself must convert to disdain, if you come in her presence" (I.i.91-92). In other words, when he is around, Benedick has the ability to turn the most kind thing into something bitter. Beatrice talks about not being at all interested in a man loving her while Benedick claims the one woman who really has or deserves his love and respect is his mother. (Z. Simmons 1st)

  8. Beatrice and Benedick
The relationship between the two is complicated. In the beginning they hated each other and they always complained to others of how much they were annoyed from each other. They had sort of a brother-sister relationship you could say. From the beginning I could tell that they would end up together because I felt like it was hinting at it. In act 1, scene 1; Benedick and Beatrice are insulting each other back and forth. Then soon he decided to be a better man towards her and they fell in love. (S. Bates7)

  9. Beatrice and Benedick do not like each other. They are always saying smart comments to each other about each other. Beatrice says, "Hes incredibly fickle - his affection changes faster than the latest fashions." (1.1.60) She also says, benedick is an infection that's easy to catch but hard to get rid of - and he'll drive you crazy once you've been infected." (1.1.70-72) These show how Beatrice does not like Benedick. Benedick says, "Aren't you dead yet?" (1.1.95) This shows how Benedick does not like Beatrice as well. He also says, "I wish my horse moved as fast as your mouth and was as tireless." (1.1.112) These all show how Benedick and Beatrice dislike each other. 7th- B. Massengale

  10. finally found #1!!! :)

In the book Much Ado About Nothing, Beatrice of Benedick do not have the best relationship at first. They fight they make comments about each other, you can tell the tension is there when you read the story.
